I am attempting to burn wav files on a CD - several lengthy messages allotting 1 track for each message. Is there any way to cheat the minutes allowed on a CD?

Mntsnow 03-19-2001, 08:31 PM Cheat by converting them to MP3's (much smaller file size but you will only be able to play them back on a system that can play mp3's where as a Wav file (Audio cd) can be played on a regular cd player (such as your car player) Roy 03-20-2001, 08:56 AM I have to guess you're already using 80min. blanks. Some sound management programs ~ Cool Edit Pro, and the like ~ provide for time compression. You would get messages that were shorter/faster without changing the pitch of the voices. tWiZtEr 03-20-2001, 10:25 AM If you want to cheat size, you should go with medium quality mp3's. But, as Mntsnow said, you can't play mp3's in normal CD players, you need a PC with some sort of mp3 player on it. I suggest if you want to be able to play your CD's in car cd players or something, find high capacity CD-R's. Lates. Lebo 03-20-2001, 10:27 PM A lot of burners support what is called "Overburning", this allows your burner to keep writing data out to the edge of the cd, this feature needs to be supported by both the burner and the software. The amount of extra time depends on the cdr media you are using. muno 03-21-2001, 01:28 AM Not all cd-readers read overburned cdroms. The best choice would be on putting the things on 2cds (assuming the space of 1cd is not enough). -M SysOpt.com
