avance AC97 Audio driver

I have Avance AC97 Audio on board sound forwhich Ihave installed the supplied software but no sound or speaker icon in tray.

I checked settings/multimedi menu in which audio menu is showing nothing midi and game shows something.

I have searched on the web for advice and suitable drivers and reinstalled several times but failed.

what may be the problem?

the system drivers cd rom should have the drivers. perhaps you are not loading the win 98 drivers?

look in device manager and see if the sound chip is listed.

Check your device settings to confirm that you have no conflicts. A conflict will be indicated by a yelow exclamation mark (!) or yellow question mark (?) if the device didn't install correctly.

Yesterday I have tested the PC by replacing my home pc hard disk, it is wonderful, everything works well automatically tray speaker icon and sound comes.

I am sure that when new monther board installed some old settings were deleted, the controller have also might me deleted I think. Now I am going to format and reinstall windows, that will, I think, solve the problem.
