I've repaired / reinstalled Win 2k 3 times
Knowing these 2 things would have saved me loads of time and hassle... :(
Recovery Console can be installed as a Boot option which only Administrator can access
Start-->Run, Type: X (CD-Rom Drive letter):\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons
Installs recovery console on boot drive (C:\)
System Failure
Options can be changed. Particularly, you can prevent Win 2k automatically rebooting when system fails. Which gives time to read the failure notification, so you can suss out what's happened...!
Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->System-->Advanced-->STartup and Recovery-->System Failure
Uncheck Automatically Reboot
Hope this might be helpful...
