Around here, when they have a computer show it's usually advertised on the radio, and it uses the same announcer as the guy who does the Monster Truck commercials.

Something along the lines of "<random convention center> IS HOSTING A HUGE COMPUTER BLOWOUT SELL!!!! FRIDAY <insert date here> TO SUNDAY <insert date here>!!! THERE WILL BE <a couple product examples at good prices> AND MUCH MUCH MORE!! YOU DON't WANT TO MISS IT!!!"

They usually happen once or twice a year in this part of my state;)

I go to the shows in Indianapolis every couple months. I seldom buy new items as they are cheaper on the internet. New ram, cpu's, hard drives and boards are all to high. Sometimes I buy new cases at the show or used monitors, systems, keyboards etc. Last time I went I bought 2 nice 15" monitors for $15 each. Time before I bought 8 systems, 2 sets of speakers, 3 keyboards for $58!!! The systems ran from P100- PII300 with 1-13gb HD's. Turned out the 13gb was bad but under warranty so I RMA'd it and got back a brand new 20gb 7200 ATA133 Maxtor. Not bad.

Hey Gibs. Theres a good one bout once a month in middletown NY I go to. Usually has 175 tables, and I always get some great deals there. next ones going to be nov 24th at the orange county fairgrounds. Lemme know if you wanna check it out and are close enough to get to it. Maybe we could get a group of the new york faction of sysopt to meet there.

Went to the marketpro comp sale this afternoon here in NJ. Boy, some pretty lame "discounts" IMO. The only thing I purchased was an exact match WD 1.2GB HDD to my old Dell P1. Not that I'm specifically plugging this one, but newegg has way better deals on their normal prices for cpu's and what not.

At the fair I went to, for the most part it wasn't anything too special, except for the deal I found and some moniters that were cheap.

I find them a little higher priced, but I still have ordered from them and they are good. :)

the horror...
10-27-2002, 03:59 AM
Last one I went to I noticed there was TONS of old stuff at
great prices, ok deals on new mobo's and stuff, but KILLER
deals on blank generic cdr's. A 100 spindle of 32X 700M pups
for $25 Can! That smokes on local retail prices...

Also, a great way to grab extra IDE cables, audio connector
cables, even power cables for $1 ea Can.

American $$$ goes a LONG way up here.

The next swap meet is in Burnaby, BC on Nov.2

Send me an email or private msg. for details... :)

the horror... the horror...

The closest one to me is in Raleigh. That is about a 2 hour drive. I don't see why the won't have one here. I live in Fayetteville which is a fairly big city. If you haven't heard of it, maybe this would help you out. It is right outside of Fort Bragg and Pope Air Force Base.

Maybe I will go up there sometime.

Well, I live around NY capital, so that helps a little, but still they are all over a 1 1/2 hour drive.

LordKwiKSilva00,

If you live near the Harrisburg area, there is usually a computer show that travels through every so often. I've never went to it, but my Dad and Grandfather have, and they have gotton some decent deals on some stuff. I wish I knew the exact dates that they usually come, but I hope this helps anyway. :t

the horror...

I guess the long and short of it is if you do see a show/swap meet coming up and have the cash- it may be worth it to bring
some cash and go nuts. Used PCI modems for $5 Can, cheap
hard drives, etc. I bought a 300W used power supply for $5.
New ones are $40 ish, if you buy in the Vancouver or Richmond
areas.

Who knows what you'll find... :r

Yep, I got a tv tuner card for $1

Still haven't tried it.

the horror...
10-29-2002, 01:29 AM
gibsinep: what tuner card is it? I've been thinking about grabbing one soon. The cheapest I've seen a Zoltrix ? was $25 Can. used
in the Buy $ Sell. That's a wicked deal...

You scored BIG TIME !!!
