My system is p2-300
Asus P2B, Matrox G200, Voodoo2, 6.4 HD, AND 128MB RAM.
I wish to upgrade it to P3-500. IS that worth ? Or wait for the K7 ?

Have you tried OC you P2-300?? I have a p2-300 .25u (dechute)sp class. It runs fine at 504 MHz. If your is the Deschute type you have a good shot at 450 and possibly higher.
consider adding some extra cooling before OC. If you have a older Klamath forget OC. I would just get a celeron till the K7 is in full swing. If you get a K7 it will mean a new MB also.
try and OC you never know...try 450MHz first it is the best bet!
Due to the rapid rate of change in the cpu market, I would not upgrade till you can roughly double your speed. do you really want a CPU with a PSN ? (P3-think not) IMHO
