I don't know how popular, or unpopular this will be, but.
www.homestead.com (http://www.homestead.com)
I've just built a web page to play with on this site. It's so easy, and free! Very user friendly. You need no knowledge of any programming languages.
Anyone know any cons with this place?
All the best, Justy.
EDIT: Ooopps, sorry, maybe this should be in general tech?

You are right. I have an account at homestead. I never built a homepage there, but I use it to upload pictures to. I also use their online email service (which is pretty good). I hate configuring OE every time I install Windows and half a year ago suddenly my hotmail account was gone.
Anyway, my mother wanted to make a homepage and my brother said:"Dreamweaver, use Dreamweaver!". My mother understands very little about computers, and guess what? She didn't understand Dreamweaver, either. So I told her to go to Homestead and she has here homepage there now...

To be honest, the electronics side off things are pretty easy for me. It's the software side I fall down on. I found this place seriously easy to use, and I'm still trying to work out the catch?

Basiclly one of the catches is their banner with advertising on top. Some can take up quite a bit of browser space also Some freewebhost's have additional banners like the annoying pop up banner as well.
Just be sure you read the user agreement CAREFULLY.
I use www.freeservers.com (http://www.freeservers.com) and www.nbci.com (http://www.nbci.com) formerly known as www.xoom.com (http://www.xoom.com) .

Yes, their banner is annoying. The page also can be only 20mb (I think - but it's enough for just a homepage).
I use www.virtualave.com (http://www.virtualave.com) to host my forum: http://server2044.virtualave.net/r0nald/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi . They give 50mb and you get an ad. The ad doesn't bother me, you see them on every website. You also get a pop-up normally, but it doesn't seem to pop up. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

I'm a webdeveloper now and I started with Geocities before I became a professional one. I haven't relocated because they provide a good, free, & reliable service. And you can get around the banner thing http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif ... same with NBCi.com
