ok, here's the problem:

i have xp pro installed on my primary hd and everything was all happy. i took the leap and decided to install linux (lycoris version) on a second hd i have. install went well, everything still happy. after a day my second hd with linux craps out on me and dies. so i figure, no prob, just take it out, it didn't do anything to my windows hd. wrong. it had overwritten the win xp boot loader to GRUB and now i can't boot into windows without the **** hd installed. help!!! is there any way to recover the win boot loader without losing my files??? i really don't want to lose everything i have saved.

oh and by the way, my floppy died on me too, just to make things worse so i can't get into dos or boot up without using the hd's.

plz help me!!!! thanx in advance!

Boot to the CD and do a repair.

Boot from the CD, select "Repair using the Recovery Console" and type FIXMBR and FIXBOOT at the command prompt.

In your BIOS , make your CD the boot disk.

If your BIOS is set to boot from CDROM and still the XP cd won't boot, then boot from 98 cd, then insert xp cd, and see if you can get to recovery console.
