HI All..
I have a small Problem which some of you may be able to help me with...
When I start Windows and the Desktop loads the machine will hang for about 2 minutes during which I cannot do anything..
however when I Cntl-Alt-Del.. I notice that the System Idle Process is running at about 98% of CPU time and remains for about 2 minutes then as it reduces my machine will then spring into life and I can Operate the PC..
Any Ideas how I can sort this out please as it's starting to get on my last nerve, And slowly driving me up the wall !!!!..
Regards..
Rob..

Why do you ever shut down? ;)
Use BootVis to sort this out:

Basically, at last one service is causing you trouble. Check Event Viewer in Administrative Tools (Control Panel) for messages.

Do you have alot in your startup? You may want to take a look at what you have running?
I had the same issue with the HOTSYNC mgr for a PLAM Vx. Had to update to the most current version.

that''s a 100% normal behaviour of WinXP
M$ made WinXP to load the video faster, so it will FAKELY make you think your puter is running faster
but is just an illussion it'll still take you as long as it needs to load all the **** in Run an Startup, and Load, and etc...
so until then, it'll simply still be Booting up
if you want to make it faster
DON'T LOAD ANYTHING AT ALL
just boot WinXP Plain, then load things manually when you need them :t
run MSCONFIG
and run SERVICE
to dissable Absolutely EVERYTHING
:D
now you'll boot within 1 minute and have mouse + keyboard control when you see things ;)

ironically, older computers do benefit from Win2k compared to Win98
:t
all old PCs that used to be HELL SLOW in Win98 they run **** well and fast with Win2K :D

Most older Win9x PCs are running less than 100MB RAM. Some are AT-style systems with 128MB EDO total capacity. These cannot handle Win2K. I wouldn't run it with less than 256MB.
Saying that Win2K will run faster on older systems is a little too general a statement. Win2K on 64MB RAM is agony.

actually on some of my system they are running on 32 meg and yeah 64 meg mostly
and the slowest they are are P 133
:D
it's not that slow, not when compared to Win98
but definitely againt's NT4
if i put NT4 on those, they fly :)
