I was wondering if anyone can tell me how much i could upgrade the processor on an IBM Aptiva system ?
I couldn`t find info the info on the IBM site or the Acer site...

currently running AMD-K6(R) 2 380MHz PROCESSOR WITH 3DNOW

I have more specs if needed...I was hoping to maybe put in a 733 mhz

any help would be welcome

The fastest k6-2 they made was a 550. you'd have to check with ibm if your motherboard supports it or not.

i was hoping I could go with a different processor...

How could I check and see if it would support a 550 ?

The only way to go with a different processor is to junk the IBM case, motherboard, processor, and power supply and buy new ones. Move the rest of the devices to the new box and reinstall the OS.
