Just curious if anyone else has this service, IFITL (Integrated Fiber in the Line), and what your speed is. If you do have this service try using Toast.net under Kbps??? they have speed test. They offer 4 test Text, Broadband Text, Image, and HTTP streaming video at 100Kb/s 250Kb/s and 700Kb/s.

My results from Interland(Atlanta,GA):
I ran these tests at 4 different times during a day these were the low and high's

Text: 2100-2300K

Broadband Text: 1850-2100K

Image: 1950-2150K

I use the streaming video at 700Kb/s with no problems. I am also sharing this connection between my 2 pc's (btw which is very easy to setup) and I can stream the video at the the same 700Kb/s on both machines with no problems also. I mean it is like they are not even sharing a connection but instead have their own dedicated line (Not true of course). Just curious if you could visit this website and post your statistics. I am just curious to see how I rate, since this is the first time I have had anything faster than 56k.

I Haven't got that service... but here is something to make you smile:

my connection is 384/128 DSL, i ran the tests:

Text test: 362
broadband: 306
Graphics: 322

The vidz didn't come through good enough (maybe because i listened to mp3'z and surfed while doing them...)

Sounds like you have a killer conenction, dude!

Dunno what sort of setup we have here at MSU... but sitting here in the general computer lab, I hit 3300K for text, 2700K broadband text, and 2500K for the image. Not too shabby. Now if I could only bottle it up and take it home with me =)

Expensive? I used to have a dedicated phoneline for internet, $14 per month, plus my ISP charges( Ameritech) $22 per month, plus phone calls to ISP @.$.06 per call, approx. $2-4 per month, total=$38-40 per month. DSL=$39.95 per month, seemed like a good deal to me, huge speed boost for a few extra $$$ a month at most.

Have a cable connection, the connection is capped to 512kbps and is a bit slow for large downloads. But the upload speed is usually quite good (limited to 128kbps up), I usually get pretty good pings for Counterstrike and Quake.

What is T-1 and T-3 Connections? I prepay every 6 mo. for my LAN (WHICH is 56k)I have 56k US robotics,and an extra phone line for $10.69, so I pay like $27.00 a month. I can't WAIT 'til it expires in April so I can go to DSL! as soon as you hit Enter for a web page your there! My very first Modem on a Commadore Amiga( lates '80's) was an external 9,600 WOW!
I downloaded centepede from Las Vegas and when I got my phone bill that game costs me $45.00!

I'm using Road Runner cable modem. My results from Interland(Atlanta,GA):

Text: 1081K
Broadband Text: 1311K
Image: 713K

Wonder why the image test was so much slower.

My connections have definitely improved as of late. Here's the results for my @HOME service:

Server: go.com in Santa Clara, CA
Text: 3283
Broadband Text: 3636
Image: 2050

@HOME ROCKS!

KMBALO, T1 and T3 are digital connections, much like ISDN. Here's the breakdown. Someone correct me if i goofed up somewhere:

DS0 (ISDN single channel)= 64Kb/s.
DS1 (T1) = 24 DS0s or 1.54Mb/s.
DS3 (T3) = 28 DS1s or 43Mb/s.

My speed? (what speed?!?) I have two words for you...

TOO SLOW!!! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

I am still connecting at a lowly 26400 baud. And if that isn't bad enough, It is shared with several computers (5 computers as I write this) OH PLEASE!!! WHEN (if ever) WILL I BE ABLE TO GET DSL???

What does it take huh!?
