I need, fer many reasons, to trasnfer several program to my new computer.vis cable. Get most of the file but sends them to into my briefcase. Than I can't reinstall them there. State the exe file is elsewhere, I tried a back up but the systems would not recognize the cable, Any wizards out there PLEASE?

The problem you have is with all the unique system files for a program that are put in the Windows/Sysetem folder when you first install the program. You can move the program's folder to a new drive, but it will still look for it's system files in Windows on the new drive, and not find them. You would actually have to move the entire Windows operating syetem to the new drive to accomplish the move. This negate the advantage of a clean install.

I have had mixed (mostly positive)results
with Mcaffee uninstaller. It makes a self
extracting package to transport apps between
computers you can get a trial here: http://download.mcafee.com/eval/evaluate2.asp
I think this might be just what you need.

Can you just crack those computers open and set the new computer drive as a slave and transfer from briefcase to breifcase. You can select files, check properties, note total byte size, then drag it over to new drive, you can check the file size after transfer to make sure it's the same size as it was on the other drive. That way you know for sure you got it all. I have had to do the same thing, and it worked.
