ECS K7S5A Motherboard (2 SDRAM DIMMS + 2 DDR RAM DIMMS).
I've just built a system based on this mobo but am having a problem with RAM. I've installed 256Mb PC133 in a single module in the first SDRAM slot and the PC locks up after a few minutes operation (or sometimes during boot). If I install a stick of DDR in the appropriate slot it works fine, in fact, if I use the original stick in the second slot it also works fine - is it possible that the first slot is faulty and, if so, why does it work for a while? Never come across that before.

Update to the latest BIOS, then set conservative timings, select "RAM Termination" Disabled for SDRAM and Enabled for DDR.

Then run memtest86 (from www.memtest86.com) to see whether you got a flaky DIMM there.

Check your motherboard guide first!

You should have an long set on jumpers to select sdr or ddr ram!

then select the right voltage also by jumpers!....

Not on this one. K7S5A has the termination switchable by BIOS software, and socket voltages for DDR and SDRAM are also preset without the use of jumpers.

the k7s5a series has some boards defective with a bad memory controller mine being one all ram put in there goes bad so if you get too many memory errors look to return it.
