Hi all,

I'm currently using Easy CD Creator, but I'm finding unreliable under Win2K...which from other postings is to be expected!

Can anyone recommend other good burning software, pref. free? My main uses are just for copying large data files??

Any help would be appreciated

Audiograbber is an audio grabber, for ripping audio, no good for data as far as I remember.

Basically people who know would suggest that you steer clear of ezy cd, nero is problably your best bet for data.

Nero is kind of confusing http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

I personally prefer to use Ezcd. and it works perfectly for me on both Audio and Data creations http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif I have ran the full spectrum of softwares avaliable and found Adaptec's software to have good support and backing along with the nices and cleanest user interface. The trick to any software is to keep it uptodate with the patches (goes for ANY software for that matter!)

just my thoughts on the subject http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Thanks guys for your input...I've just installed Nero and I'm very impressed....looks to be a very robust piece of software.

Nice interface too, first impressions that at a basic level it is very similar to ezcd, but it seems you can do more???? what are the good features??

Just a heads up!

Which version of Nero did you just download? I just happened to go there today and found out they have a new up-date. The newest version is 5.0.44. I downloaded it today, by still haven't installed it. It's suppose to fix a couple of bugs that I've encountered.

I recently got a Sony burner and am using the soft ware that came with it, from this am I to assume I can use other, better software. (win98)

You can use any software provided your burner is supported by it. You can usually check a supported burners section on the software manufacturers site.

I have known plenty of people who have had no problems with ezy cd, and sure the interface is sweet, but certainly in the early days of burning it caused numerous problems for me and many others. I suppose its a case of once bitten twice shy for me and ezy cd. Direct CD was the worst offender in that package, hope its better now.

Alondra-
That software that comes with the sony burners is crappy. Wahrez, if you are using Widnows 2000, then try getting the updates from www.roxio.com (http://www.roxio.com) toupdate to the latest version of EZCD. I use 4.03 under win2k and have no problems. Nero is a decent program, but when burning audio with it, you cannot remove the 2second delay between audio tracks like you can with EZCD's "Disc at once".

Thanks,

Nero looks extremely good but is very similar to EZCD....It seems reliable so I'll stick with it for a while! ScoopaStar yes the 2sec thing in nero is more time consuming but I can live with that, thanks for pointing it out though!

Click and Burn Pro is excellent, self explainatory and easy. You can drop and drag also. They bent over backwards to provide me with updated software that was compatible with my burner.Good investment for me.
And you really just click and burn.
I hated Nero, it was confusing and not updated enough for my hardware AND it came w/ my hardware.

Another option I never here mentioned is
NTI CD Maker2000.I use this on one machine
and I am very happy with it.You can check it
out and get a demo here: http://www.ntius.com/products/cdmaker.htm
I know it's not free but it does give a lot
of bang for a buck.

I use Easy CD Creator, Padus Disk Juggler, and Clone CD on my Win2K, and they never cause me coasters.
