Wiruz 03-14-2001, 10:20 AM The middle one is the one used for slave-drives (but i'm not 100%) - i even think i hooked mine up the other way around... I'm not even sure it makes a difference. ~Wiruz, The Digital Hippie AuraEdge 03-14-2001, 11:03 AM On ATA/33 40pin cables, it doesnt matter (All the ends are black, and can be connected in any order on the cable. On ATA/66 80pin cables, the Blue end must be in the board. The middle one should be hooked up to the slave, and the furthest to the master, but in my experience, that doesnt really matter, since it works both ways. However, the blue end MUST be in the motherboard or IDE controller. Sabbath 03-14-2001, 11:52 AM Thanks for the help. Obsolete 03-16-2001, 04:09 AM Not completely true. If the computer supports Cable Select Mode then the middle plug is the slave and the top is the master. Learned that from a working a very stupid Compaq Pesario 5240. I want to bash them almost as bad as i have actually bashed a Macintosh. Its fun taking out your anger on a piece of junk computer SysOpt.com
