I (Actually, my Wife's computer, but you know who has to "ride herd on it!") have been having a multitude of problems with W2K dumping: on the internet, when working in WordPerfect, Word, Paint Shop Pro 7, Microsoft Greetings, in other words, in anything and everything!

These are a few of the variety of messages that preceede the dump:

STOP:0x00000051(0x0000000C,0x00000005,0xBD6BBAB4,0 xBD6BB70C) REGISTRY_ERROR

STOP:0x000000C2(0x00000099,0xE2BC8F48,0x00000000,0 x00000000) BAD_POOL_CALLER

STOP:0x00000044(0x8152A188,0X00001A11,Ox00000000,0 x00000000) MUTIPLE_IRP_COMPLETE_REQUESTS

STOP:0x0000001E(0xC0000005,0x80519228,0x00000000,0 x000000040) KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED

STOP:0x0000000A(0xC0C2A7AC,0x00000001,0x00000000,0 x8044AEC4) IRQL-NOT-LESS-OR-EQUAL

as well as other, similar, and some not so similar, messages.

I am about to format her hard drive, and re-load everything in order to try and clear up what I have not been able to otherwise resolve.

I have and Abit BP6, with two 400 MHz Celeron CPUs, 256 MB of memory, and a Voodoo 3 video card in the computer.

First: any suggestions about the problems we are having?

Second: while I formatted many hard drives out of Windows 3.2, 95, and 98, I have not done this when W2K has already been installed. Because DOS is not installed on the drive or at least W2K does not allow anything else to work with it, are there any problems (or perhaps I should ask how to do it) with formating the drive which has W2K on it?

Thanks for any input any of you may be able to give me.

Steve

First boot to the cdrom with Win2K disk in.
Then run the setup (like you're doing a fresh install) not the repair. Then when it starts, it will tell you that you already have Windoze installed and ask again if you want to repair. Repair from here, and it should fix any problems it found. If you are going to format and reinstall, it gives you that option here as well. (had to do this last weekend). Hope that helps.
BTW, are all your hardware components compatible with Win2K? That could be the problem.

[edit: Make sure you have service pack 1 installed also]

Thanks, Mr. Ed! I will give it a try!

Sorry for posting this way. I am having trouble with IE bringing up link windows on my own computer! Guess I will have to try a re-install to correct same!

Steve

P.S.
