It's usually in the properties of the various devices that can use it. It allows data transfers to access the memory directly without having to go 'through' the processor. This saves both cycles and resources.

its okay, enabling dma is always a benefit right?
my question is whether it can control by bio-setting enable/disable.

I hv checked in my home pc which have in bios UDMA setting option as auto or disable - what is it mean?

Leave them in AUTO in the BIOS

this options are best set in Windoze

do you have VIA chipsets or Intel / AMD chipsets?

if you have VIA

go get the updated 4-in-1 drivers here, that will enabled them for you
