Hey guys

My GA-6BXC rev 1.9 has been running my C333a (@500 most of the time) for about 4 years now. What can I upgrade the CPU too? The book says a multiplier of 6.5 is supported. Will this support something bigger, maybe even a new C1000 or something similar?

Also, can I use a 133mhz FSB CPU with the board? I think this will overclock the PCI bus? cheers!

With a BIOS up date it will support up to a FC-PGA 700.......you will need a slotket adapter. You can set dip switch SW2 this way:

number 1=off
number 2=on
number 3=on
number 4=off
This will give you a multiplier of 6.5

Thanks for that. I have since found that i cannot use coppermine cpus. How did you get 700mhz as a maximum? Is 6,5 the highest?

look for the latest Bios up-date

Here (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/products/ga6bxc.htm)
I didn't notice your rev 1.9....this may not work. Bios calls for rev 2.0. At any rate you should be able to overclock a PII 450 to 728 by using 112bus @ 6.5x and with a bios up-date for your rev. you should be able to use a PIII 850, 133 @ 6.5x.
Good luck
