i have a compaq 5722, with a pentium 3 500mhz processor, 96mb of ram.i can go as high as 800mhz and 256mb on the ram. my cache is maxed out at 32kb and 512kb. what should i do to make my computer faster?

This probably sounds bias, but...for what you'd spend to upgrade that to a 800, buy a new mainboard and a 750 Duron and overclock it to a 1Ghz!

I'd suggest some more RAM before a new P3, especially since it's now so cheap. 256mb now is below $100.

You could get a faster P3, but 500 is fine for now and everything after the 600 (no E or B) has a different core (the coppermine) that runs at a lower voltage and 256kb of full-speed L2 (better than 512k of 1/2 speed).
