you can not make a boot disk from dos with Win ME http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif
you can make one in windows ME but your better off downloading a boot disk from www.bootdisk.com (http://www.bootdisk.com)

Not sure about under DOS but you can create a boot disk from ME just as easy as going

Control panels
Add/remove programs
Click on the Startup disk tab.

It will then create you a boot disk that also has the diagnostic tools and cdrom drivers (for both IDE and some scsi ones)

Would it be possible if you have a later m/b & bios that boots from the cd drive to just put the cd into the drive then reboot the pc?
When you start to do the win install it asks to place the floppy in to make a boot disk. Once you have the boot disk you could cancel the installation.
Ok I have not tried it with ME or any window ver for that matter I'm just throwing an idea out into the wind.
If you only needed the boot disk to install winME and your system can boot off the cd drive then you wouldnt need the boot disk anyway.
Like I said I have not tried it and I'm not even sure if all winME cd's can boot up.
Just an idea.

Hello,

or if you want to do using the dos command line:

Go to the DOS prompt ( c:\) and type format a:/s/u or if you have a blank disk than type sys c: a:
This will be a simple boot disk (no cd drivers no uper memory setup and etc.)
