search feature in forums

I just want to know when this will be working again. I think it started happening after the move to the new server and some of us lost a few post. Everytime I try to search through the forums I get nothing.

Forget I said anything, it seems to be working fine now.

Not so fast! If I search on all forums with a date limitation (30 days), the search seems to hang. The same search with no date limitation gives mne a ton of hits in a relatively short time. Trouble is, the stuff I want is recent so, to see it, I have to browse all the bleedin' pages in the list. I gave up.

Search has always been painfully slow if you choose to search all the forums in one search. It never did return all the matches that it should have found, but it has gotten much worse since the move. Just yesterday I tried to search for a word that I knew was in a recent message and i knew which Forum it was in...nothing. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif When I change the criteria and searched for a term I remembered using in my reply, it found it. The term I had just unsuccessfully tried to locate was right there in plain view.

I read the "search" feature takes up a LOT of bandwith. I think there just isn't enough bandwith to handle it (like it should). Not to mention how many posts there are "search" has to look through...
