Is your computer set on the floor, or within 6 inches of it? If it is, you should take the top of the case off. You may be surprised at what you find. In nearly every instance, computers placed near carpeted flooring accumulate dust far quicker than those set on top of desks. Also, clean your case fans to make them quieter.

Thanks for the tip http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I keep mine above to the left of me, near my
desk. This also cuts down on the cat hairs since we have 3 cats.
I also try to clean the insides at least once a month, the extra fan case fan that I added really sucks in more air and...dust!

Thanks for the tip. I have my computer on the carpet right now. I really don't have room to put it on my desk. I will have to make room. We have 5 cats and 1 dog and they leave hairs all over the place. I want to keep my machine running for as long as possible.
Mine's on the hardwood floor. No case cover. 2 cats, 2 dogs, 2 kids. Yeah, the thing gets dirty fast! Almost seems like it sucks all the dust in the room sometimes. I blow the crud out about once a month.

I agree that placing one on the floor is dirty for it.
This makes me think of an oddity.
When opening someones computer,, I can tell several things.
1. If they don't clean house much, large particles of debris & hair are all in the fans.
2. If they smoke, a computer harbors smoke worse than an ashtray.
One guys computer smelled like hoochie weed http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
I don't comment on things like this http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

I used to have mine on my carpet. But I had the same type of problem! I have a cat, dog, and messy younger brother!
I've been thinking of cutting out the mettle coverings for my computers fans, and replacing them with very thin cloth (something like durofold). Do you think that would help?
