My son has a Compaq Pavillion 7360 and the on-board video has died. The system does not recognize his new video card.

Does anyone know how to get the camaro motherboard to recognize the new video card? There is simply no screen display so we cannot go into set up...visually.

I do not see an obvious jumper and none seems labeled as controlling the primary video display. We tried the Compaq site and its list of jumpers does not include a video display on the 7000 series motherboards. There are numerous posts about introducing a new video card, but none for this situation.

Any help gratefully received.

Did you get a manual with the motherboard? If there is a related jumper for video, the manual will show it.

Otherwise, most often there is an option in BIOS to set which display the system reads from first, the onboard or an add-on card.

However, as you say, you don't have a visual display so you can't get into BIOS setup.

I'm afraid it may be time to go shopping.

There is no vid jumper on the Camaro mainboard. Sounds like you have other problems. Memory, processor or board. Suggest you remove any add-on cards, disconnect the drive data cables and try it again. Try clearing the cmos jumper also...;)

Mr. Computer's right - you can try to clear cmos (jumper and battery - make sure power's off when you clear the cmos), then reboot and get into bios settings

and are you sure the onboard video died? what happened with the system that you suddenly lost the display?

Thanks to all for the thoughts and wisdom. We will try some of them out.

What happened? It was turned on and went got no video. The screen said there was no signal to the CRT. The computer made its usual running noise, but there were not progress beeps.

I will pursue the HP links.
