I am building a computer for a friend and I am looking for a solid mb (not going to oc it) with on board audio and video. The board must also have an apg 4x for future upgrade for games. It should support up to a amd xp 1700. no need for ddr ram sdram will be fine. Any help is appreciated

Any motherboard with nVidia's nForce chipset is a good choice, although it supports DDR RAM only, so if you already have SDRAM on hand and you're set on using it, then never mind. The nForce 420-D has integrated GeForce 2 MX, onboard audio with Dolby (hence the -D) and often board makers include a 6-channel audio daughter card. The 415-D is the same but without onboard video, so you can start with an AGP card of your choice. I suggest the MSI K7N420 Pro, since it is reported to perform best with all three memory slots occupied (unlike the Asus A7N266-E) and MSI includes a video daughter card with TV-out as well, which could be kinda neat.

I didn't get to read absalom's post until I had finished typing - sorry! He's also got good advice for you. Bear in mind it's also DDR only.

I think the nForce is a better choice myself. I've built a sys with one for a friend at church. It worked nice, and it's offered in microatx also for the space challenged. :)
