Sometimes i don't get my POST beep it's about a 50/50 chance i will. Also sometimes my computer won't start at all it just sits there dead, i have to pull the plug and plug it back in to "shock it" to get it to turn on.windows runs good once it's started but this shouldnt be happening http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif and it has been overclocked before. I take it as a bad power supply? Would this be damaging anything & would this affect the way my HDD would store/retrieve info?

Could just be the power on switch. My second pc makes me stand on one foot, close my right eye and cross the fingers on my left hand before it'll bootup. I usually push and hold the power button in to make it come on.

i've tryed that but it doesn't work, also it wouldn't account for the lack of POST beep everytime.Steve, i'd sell any computer that made me do that much work to turn it on lol

Well I was exaggerating just a little bit. And I couldn't sell the old cyrix 166 work horse.

Sounds like you problem is either the switch or the power supply. But since it does come on evidentially, I'm still leaning towards the switch. Bad switch will light up the hdd light etc but won't spin the fans or boot.

Is that what your doing plugging and unplugging the thing? My raid board wahhh! ( still down no time) Will only boot every other time without pulling the cord,, excuse.. it boots just has no video signal... exactly every other time... any clues?
