Hello gang,
I have a second PC which i want to network to my own PC. However the Network Adapter will not work as the device driver is not working anymore. The manufacturer is Realtek, the information in device manager is as follows;
GE2500III PCI Ethernet Adapter
This device is not listed on the Realtek website.
The system is on Win 95. Even if i get the driver how am i suppose to update the driver, there is no option in device driver to Update.
Would i be better off doing a complete re-install on Win?
Your advice is greatly appreciated.

The manufacturer is actually Genius. Realtek is the chip maker.
You can get updated drivers on the realtek web site. Your adapter uses Realtek 8029.
http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloads1-3.aspx?series=14&Software=True
I found out what chip by going here:
http://main.biuras.lt/ftp/drivers/Net/genius/ge2500III/WIN95/
As for updating, you can go to your Control Panel > Network. Remove your adapter and then add your adapter again, using the updated drivers.

Thank you for your help.
When i go to the first link it gives me three options: TW, CN, HK.
Do i download them all?

Those are just download mirrors, in case you can't download from one, you can try another. TW = Taiwan, CN = China, HK = Hong Kong. If you download from all 3, you would be downloading the same file 3 times.

Hi again,
I finally got the adapter sorted out.
Problem now is getting the two PC's to talk to each other.
2nd PC:
When i click on 'NETWORK NEIGHBOURHOOD' is says it is unable to browse the network.
My PC:
I get the same problem as above.
Was talking to a friend and he said that i need a cross-over cable (RJ-45), or i could get a hub.
My plan is for the second PC to be able to go online, print to shared printer and eventually backup info on CD-RW shared drive. How easy is this and do any of you foresee any problems?
PS: Can anyone recommend a good book on Networking etc.?
