I have created this thread to ask everyone to post their performance reviews on the new 40.71s using the 3dmark2001SE or similar benchmark program.
These are mine on my GeForce2Ti:
Using the latest 30s.. 3dmark2001SE score of 4619.
Using the new 40.71s.. 3dmark2001SE score of 4097.
522 point decrease using the new 40s.
Please make sure you post your video card model when you post the results!
Thanks,
Jawa :r

Nope, its more for any dx8 card that it increases performance. This is because of the pixel shaders and etc. that the dx 7 cards do not have. So its not for just G4....its for G3 and up. But not the mx's performace wise! Trust me they are still tweaking the G3 drivers, they said from day one it would be a while till the drivers caught up with the hardware the g3 has, muchless the G4 even.:)

Great results upgrading from 30.82's to 40.71's. Went from 8965 to 10,095 in 3DMark2001 SE with a P4 1.6 NVRefresh Tool 2.0 has support for the latest det's too (awesome resolution to the Win2k 60Hz bug).
3DMark test options:
PNY GeForce4 ti4600
1024x768, 32-bit color, compressed textures
D3D Pure Hardware T&L
Antialiasing: None

You won't need the refresh tool with the 40.71's.... They have built-in refresh rate fixer!

Negative on that one.
They have a built-in refreshrate fix for Direct3D.. NOT OPENGL.
So, yes, you will still need the refresh tool thingie! :p

4865 using Detonator 30.82
4905 using Detonator 40.71
games lock up for no reason when using the betas though, so back to the 30.82s I go!
WinME, XP 1800+ O/Ced to 1900, 256MB DDR-2100, Pine GeForce 2 Ti
[EDIT] I can O/C the card using the 30.82s and get almost 5300 easily at 250/440, and 260/450 is about my limit, with about 5350 3DMarks. Anything after that and it's lockup-city!

The reason for that is because they are BETAS.. wait for the WHQL drivers for the totally finished article :)

Hehe that was meant to connote that I knew it was the betas' fault for crashing the system... guess I should explain a little more often :)

Would i see a preformance boost with a TNT2 Vanta? If not, what is the best drivers for them?
Bob - stick with the 30s.. I think those are best suited for TNT and geforce2.
Thanks to all who have posted their results. :t

Yes that is true
i have them on some very old Riva and they work just fine
but the previous 40.5x drivers gave me better frames
about 50 more than now
the new ones 40.7x dropped quite badly
i got a jump of about 35 more from the 30.x drivers
