I recently had problems with an ecs k7s5a and i lost 2 sticks of pny 256 ram. This mobo was never oc`d but it never lasted me 3 months and im not going to get another ecs for nothing. Im now looking at a soyo k7vta pro which supports up to xp 2200 which will cut out a lot of middlemen for uprading. The board also looks like a good overclocker. The only problem might be that it only supports sdram which would be a great performance block . Id like to know if anyone has problems with this board and also a suggestion for another mobo worth looking at. Im planning to run a 950 duron on the new mobo for now and i will upgrade in two months or less
thx

I'm running the Soyo board on my backup machine at work. It has a 1.2 TBird 200 with 512mb Crucial CL2 PC100. It's fast and stable.
If you can use a 266Mhz FSB processor and PC133 or PC150 on that board, you would have a good system. I didn't have any spare processors with 266Mhs FSB lying around, so had to use the TBird 200.
However, you're right in thinking that the SDRAM will hinder present and future performance. If you want to run an XP processor and DDR SDRAM, I suggest either the MSI K7T266 Pro2 or the MSI KT3 Ultra. I'm also running both of these boards in my home systems with no problems whatsoever. Either of these boards can be had for less than $100.
If you want to run an XP processor but stick with SDRAM for now, I suggest the MSI K7T Turbo2 board. I believe it to be somewhat better than the Soyo, but not by much.
