I don't know if i am in the right forum but it has to do with mobo.

Can i connect the delta fan (6800 rpm, 38cfm) from the vantec CCK 6035D to the 3 pin mobo connector or should i use the 3 to 4 pin adapter.

According to the fan specs it uses about 3.84 W and the A7V333 connectors can handle up to 4W.

What is the worse that can happen if the fan wattage is to high for the mobo connector?.

Thanks, Robert

If the Vantec has two cables, connect to the PSU for power. The other cable must go to the motherboard header or the system won't start.

That fan is a screamer and needs to go to the PSU. Better yet, replace it with a 4500RM fan and save your ears! :(

It's a good thing a decided to play it safe and use the psu connector, because according to the delta website the fan draws .32A but after removing the fan the sticker (on the fan) gives a value of .48A.
