Nothing wrong there. I give you an 8 because you took a chance on OCZ memory - as I did. They have been known to (ahem) mis-label their memory.

Heck yeah, I'll give you at least an 8. You've got some good components there and your plans for a 9700 Pro are right on track for having a kickarse system.

I think Gigabyte boards are reliable and stable. The XP 2200+ is certainly a fast processor and should tide you over for quite some time.

Not too sure though, about the Goliath HSF. I don't have any personal experience with them, nor have I read any reviews. Main thing is if it can keep that processor running in the thirties and forties, then it's a good one.

Enjoy the new system. :t

Thank for the reply guys. And yea, I am just trying the ocz ram, I thought Id try something that id never used before, know what i mean? Anyways.. that hs/f is also just another example of me taking a chance :P Its an 80mm W/ all copper h/s so It should do the trick. Im glad to hear that the gigabyte board is stable and reliable, Iv really only tried Msi boards, and some others, like shuttle, but thats pretty much it. Now.. Should i really be taking these chances? Like on the ram and hs/f. I think im gunna try the hs/f for sure, but should i get some different ram? Like crucial or kingston?.. I was going to get corsair but its to expensive for me.... Anyways.. thanks guys..

Crucial is always a good choice. I just RMAed some Kingston, so I'm not partial to it. :(

I say leave well enough alone if both the memory and HSF work out for you.

80mm all copper heatsinks are common these days. You could always put a faster fan on it if the CPU runs hot.

I myself am quite partial to the Thermalright AX-7. I have three systems running that heatsink. I have lapped them all. I use the 53cfm Mechatronics fan on each of them. They are a very good low cost solution to cooling the XP processors. If you wanted to get radical, you could go for the Thermalright SLK-800 with a moderate to fast fan. It's almost doulbe the price of the AX-7 and only beats the AX-7 by a few degrees celsius. The SLK-800 is all copper like the SK-6 and SLK-600 whereas the AX-7 is a copper bottom with aluminum fins. They will have to make a really kick *** HSF before I'll switch.

As for the memory, I run original Samsung PC2700 on my MSI KT3 Ultra with the 1t command enabled and the Fast Command set to Ultra. No hiccups whatsoever.

Too many quality, reliable memory brands available to trouble with OCZ. Mushkin, Samsung, Crucial sell quality modules at good prices.

I would say your system went pretty well until you listed the ocz memory get rid of it and go with reliable companies like missi just mentioned other reliable companies are kingston and corsair.
