New system won't start, stops before post completes. Abit KG-7 Raid Duron 900 ATI All-in wonder 32 256 DDR 2100 Maxtor 20 gig The system will attempt to boot but stops at the CPU recognition, won't start every time with ram in slot 4 as directed. Will attempt to start every time if ram is in any other slot but hangs at message that ram is in wrong slot. Sometimes it will attempt to start with ram in the right slot and sometimes the video bios will display? Cannot get into cmos as the keyboard will not work. This is the second board with almost the same characteristics. Using 300 watt PS. Processor is O.K. in MSI board, jumpers are correct also. Used other video card, mem with same results, all components work in other PC. Only have video card installed on bare board not in case?

What's the CPU heat like? Have you double-checked the seating of the heat sink? The slightest gap will allow the CPU to overheat. Make sure it's flat.

CPU 39 deg. CPU and f/h works fine in another MB.
When it attempts to post and hangs at CPU identifier, the bios is displayed with the DEL to enter cmos option but the keyboard has no effect, won't enter cmos or reboot?

try removing all the hardwares including FDD, HDD, mouse, sound, nic, modem, etc

only keep video and rams

and see if it goes far enough for you to press the [DEL] key

:t

another workaround, try Clearing the CMOS with the mobo jumper

Yep! Done all of those good things still the same. Will a system hang if the ram is defective or maybe not top quality?
