Advantages of USB mouse

I've been told that a USB mouse samples input at a higher rate than a serial mouse, thus providing more accurate tracking. Anyone have info regarding this?

Seems like a minor issue, but if you're playing Q2 on a modem vs. someone on DSL every little bit helps.

Yes there´s a really big difference between the USB and PS/2 mouse, but there is a little utility that can make your PS/2 mouse update faster than the USB. It´s called PS2rate and can set the refresh rat to 200Hz instead of 40 in win98. 80Hz in NT.
The USB mouse has a default of 125Hz so no need to go with the USB mouse if you need the bandwith for other things like scanners and so on.
