but how do i find out the cpu temp.? is there hardware or software for it? and where can i dl the software, if that is the case...

oops! sorry, so speedfan is the anser, gotcha! thanks, another dumb newbie question, how do i find out how fast the cpu is in the motherboard? Besides looking right at cpu, do i find that info in bios or somewhere in control panel? thanks

Most BIOS can display the CPU type and the temperature (in the Hardware section), but it doesn't tell you the temperature "under load". For that, Motherboard Monitor or Speedfan are best.

no, i think u misunderstood me (or the way around). I want to know the speed of my cpu (i already know, but say if i just assembled one, and want to know what the cpu shows) where do i find that info?

You probably have a SpeedEasy setup in the bios. You can have a look there. It should tell you.
Or in the bios, just before the boot. To pause the boot, to take the time to read, you can put a non-system disk on the floopy.

but the BIOS view is not Accurate if your clock and stuff has not been set properly
so that's how those software will do better in this case
