OK, I'm getting pinged,,, I have the IP addresses. I look at the numbers and rub my chin as I murmur,,,, heh heh heh gotcha, you slime. Now what? Doh! Do I DO anything or just feel smug?

Just feel smug.

If you must, you could use trace.bat (http://www.pc-help.org/trace.htm) to see if you can find out who's doing it. Often it's your own ISP.

Zonealarm (I use it for the few-and-far-between times I run Windows) just protects the well known ports right?

My Linux firewall monitors and denies connections to all 65,535 ports and I get hits on lots of weird numbered ports - my ISP was constantly dinging 65535
