Im new here, Ive also checked back to some of the older threads on this forum. So much hardware freaks and gamers here, this must be the only forum that I have seen so far that hasnt mentioned Mafia (forgive me if I missed the thread hehe). What do you guys think? I think it owns gta3 anyday, in storyline and gameplay. Also I have dl'ed so many fixes and tried so many ways to get gta3 to run correctly but I gave up when I got to the next borough, they should really get their act straight because gta2 wasnt all that bad when it came out. Anyways, back to mafia, man the graphics are so sweet @ 1280 x 1024 and I just love the cutscenes that are done in 16 x 9! This makes #1 on my list of game of the year AND best game I have played. CS was hot but this one did it for me, it would be quite something if they come out with an add on for multiplayer for mafia, gang vs gang, driving around in the city while the passenger shoots out the window. Yeah yeah, its not gonna happen but ****, this game blew me away. Like watching a movie and playing all rolled up in one.

Yup, we were just talkin about that one a few weeks ago. I thought it was awesome too. Seriously one of the best games I've played.

IMO Mafia has one of the best intros in gaming that i've seen. I love how they did the fly by in the city like a movie with the peoples names coming in and how it transitions to the bar. I was blown away.

The game is good too although I am bored with the free drive and freee drive extreme already.

I was really surprised this game runs mid on all effects adn rez on my PII400.

The game is great. Excellent story line, great gameplay. And awsome cars to be gotten in Free ride Extreme(FRE)

Yep, Mafia is really a great game. The story line is engaging. I couldn't stop playing when i was just trying to see what kinda game it was. The first cars that you ride may be slow but they sure are fun to drive at least for me.

A note about this game...if you drive without a joystick, you're missing out!

I was playing with my force feedback joystick and the driving is a whole lot of fun (of course shooting out the window with both hands on the stick ain't really gonna happen).

Oh and use the emergency brake to whip around right fast when needed. A good time is when you're being chased. :D

Truly excellent game...I'm surprised its name isn't everywhere.

I use the joystick some, but still cant get away from keyboard/mouse combo. :)

I usually don't but this one is an exception.

I just wondered if anyone was having the same problem as me.

Mafia works well at 1024x768 using full everything, except that every so often it would jerk and then resume play smoothly.

It is not impeding gameplay, but i have had this problem on some other games and just wondered if anyone has also had it and solved the problem.

My system is a P4 1.8 running 256DDR ram and a 64M Nvidia Geforce card.

I wonder if it might be the lack of memory or the HardDrive accessing too much???

Yeah it does that too on my 1.47ghz Tbird, 512MB SDRRAM and 80=30gb HDD's, i just think its due to the extre, ely large portions of data being cached.. i tried fiddling with the swap file to no avail.

I wouldnt worry about it ;)

Wow, this is an awesome game, one of the most gripping story line's i have ever played, far better than any game i have played.

I can run mine at 1024x768 full details and everything is fine, no fps lag, no problems, i think i'll try 1280x1024 in a mo :)
