Hi,
Anyone knows the Hercules Radeon 8500 64MB DDR AGP.

Is it good? Is it worth to safe some money instead of getting the BBA(built by ATI)????

Thanks for your advise.

Yes. Hercules makes second best cards after ATI itself (IMHO) :)

No get the ATI one. Third part ATI cards, or "powerd By ATI" cards, like the herculese, suck! They are slower than the ATI "Built by ATI" cards, thats why they are cheaper. Plus the "Built by ATI" cards are better quality, they are built better and have better driver support(Which you need if going with ATI:p ):t

Not all "Powered By ATI" cards are slower. Clock speed may vary. And Hercules has the same exact model ATI ships. Assembling quality is the same if not better. And driver support ? Joke with ATI, but not the issue here. Same drivers go for everybody.
Wonder what was YOUR experience with ATI, Bizkitkid2001 ?

I like ATI! Infact all of my vid cards have been ATI except my last one which I am useing right now. Its just that my friends have bought Powered By ATI cards (PowerColor, Hercules, and another one, something called like devil master or evil master) and they didn't perform as good as the built by ATI versions:t

why do you say that the LE is *****? it i not like a gf4xm to g4ti sort of deal. The LE is just an "original" radeon 8500 with lower clock speeds, all other things intact. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.

I tend to echo what Bizkitkid2001 said :D :t

ATI by ATI are always better, there are known a few brands of ATI by non ATI that will not WORK with the new kick **** Catalyst drivers ;)

[edit] typo, forgot "work"

My brother just got the "built by ati" radeon 7500. That card surprised me! The clock speeds are pretty dang high. He went from a V3 2000 to this so he is Very happy indeed. I have had one third party ati card and it wasnt that great but neither was the ATI gpu it was based on so its not fair to compare like that. The ATI I got my dad was "built by" but lower end since hes not really a gamer. Point is the "built by" ones run very well! Oh and nivida fans I still have a G3!:D My bro is a engineer so he uses CAD all the time. I recomended the ati to him cause A) good price B) He wanted dual mon suport for cad and games C) DVD movies he watches on tv D) Auto cad will look better since its 2D it needs the help. For him ATI was obvious choice to me. Think I steared him wrong?

So panchos, take my opinion with a grain of salt as my ATI experience is a little limited but I personally would do this. Either go with the built by ati one, or check to see if the specs on the third party manufac. have the same clock speeds as some are slower but some are = like the one ND said about. Then type the name of that card you are looking at in google + the word review . Walla instant bench results etc. So know you can see how it does.;)

I've seen more people using ATI for CAD and 3D Studio applications than GeForce

so that's a pretty score, and no you did the right thing for your Bro

I am gonna buy the built by ATI card.
I had a powed by ATI Radeon 7500 from Powercolor. It sucked, it cost the same as the built by ATI (here in my Country) And it is very slow. Games run like 10 fps slower than the original.

I will go fot Built By ATI!!!!!!!!
