Anyone know a good (preferably free) utility to change all the folder icons in winXP? I don't want to have to change every single folder icon one at a time. I'm looking for something to do all of them all at once. I should also note that i'm looking for a way to work around editing the shell32.dll manually as well. Both options just sound like too much effort. Thanks in advance.

Check this out at PC World - Windows XP Theme 2

You have to load Desktop Architect first.

You'll need two app, both free!

First find desktop architect on the link above. With this you s could change every aspect of your desktop and general files.
You'll also be able to change systemfolders icons.

For the rest i use Iconphile for making themes of file folders and everything else desktop architect doesn't change.

Look for it at www.majorgeeks.com

One drawaback.
On a win2k/XP machine only explorer shows the changed folder icons. Eevery other filemanger i've used keeps showing the original icon for folders. Most dialogboxes that browses the filesystem have those boring yellow icons.
It's very disturbing to have those beautiful icons and then a dialog window shows something else for folders.

I guess it has something to do with explorer running in the user context and the dialog boxes running in the system context.
I have not found a way to check and change that yet.

The thing is, it says desktop architect is not compatable with XP. Has anyone tried this yet?

--edit--

I got impatient and installed desktop architect and tried it anyway. It didn't seem to change the folder icons. Any ideas?
