Whenever I right click on an icon, it takes about 15 seconds to bring up the menu, and during that time the mouse is extremely laggy. I cant understand why this is happening, any ideas?

BadBoy_77 09-21-2002, 01:53 PM are you running alot of programs, or using alot of resources? win i start using alot of resources things slow down abit. things take longer to open edit your system with msconfig, under display properties uncheck effects that may slow system down, and increase ram. thats what i did. somebody jump in if its something else. Set swap file to auto values, defragment your HD ? K6-2 350 (getting an Athlon 750 so maybe that will fix it) Probably :) Sark 09-21-2002, 07:11 PM Where do I set the swap file thing? I have a via mvp3 chipset. BipolarBill 09-21-2002, 09:33 PM It's in Control Panel > System > Advanced > Virtual Memory. The more "helper" programs you install, the more items show up in the Context Menu (right-click). The more items, the slower it opens. Sark 09-21-2002, 09:38 PM I only have winzip and Nortan in the menu. I cant believe i didnt no where the swap file settings were D'oH! I need more sleep. Anyways the swap file is set to default. BipolarBill 09-21-2002, 09:48 PM Norton may be slowing you down. Try restarting the PC without it running and check again. SysOpt.com
