AllGamer 09-20-2002, 10:38 PM Welcome to SysOpt! :t Man, that sounds really bad Did you have any image or mirror file of the original driver? those are made by the mirror command in dos, or by norton disk image if you don't have either one of those nor a Ghost image then i don't know of any other way to recover. :( Protocol 09-20-2002, 10:42 PM I tried running Partition Magic again, but it freezes up. It wont continue. No I dont have an image of the disk, didnt think I would ever use it. Big mistake x51out 09-20-2002, 11:08 PM At least you can still boot into windows, am I right? What OS are you using? I guess it only matters because of the way you will have to turn off background programs, I've had PM7 lock up on me as well (in 98) because of some stuff running in the background. Also, maybe try re-installing PM first. Good luck. Cluedo 09-21-2002, 01:09 PM Does it show up as unknown or as PqRP or PQFLEX? (I'd check PQ site but haven't been able to access them yet today.) Depending upon how quickly you want to fix the problem, you could: http://www.partition-recovery.com/quest1.htm Give this a whirl, if it works, for about $30.00 Checkout a newsgroup, located here (http://groups.google.com/groups?hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&group=comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware.storage) and search just that group with the key word Svend Olaf and maybe add partition recover to the search. (Put a tick in the "search only in..." option ) Looks like he is quite active in helping correct partitions gone bad problems with Findpart located here (http://inet.uni2.dk/~svolaf/) Read a lot of posts from newsgroups from folks who used Findpart, emailed the results to this guy, and got the fix of how to correct their problem. Might not work...but looks possible...and free? (Of course, a lot of folks are a lot smarter than me and probably know how to read/correct the partition table info.) If you've never posted to a newsgroup, there's a link in upper right to click, register, and then post. Can do it from your browser...don't have to use an newsreader client. omega31 09-21-2002, 05:29 PM See if you can run Partition Magic with the switch /IPE. Using this switch, you are telling Partition Magic to ignore partition errors which are causing it to freeze. SysOpt.com
