Hi all! the suiz here. I just bought an ATI Radeon 9000 card with 64MB. It works fine under Win98 and WinMe which is where I have tested it, but when I try to install it while my comp's running on XP I get the XP loading screen but then all I get is this horizontal static. Any suggestions? ideas?
Welcome to SysOpt ! :)
We have to know more about your computer, can you give your detailed system specs ?
Also, did you try this videocard on another computer ?

It's a P4 1.2Ghz with 256RAM. I got an Intel board 845NW. I think that's about right

hi there welcome to sysopt.
You must make sure you have the XP 2.3 catalyst drivers installed on your system or else you will have problems.
If you havent get them from the ATI website

When your WinXP machine is Booting
Hit [F8] then go into SAFE MODE
once in safe mode, go to Device Manager
Uninstall ALL video Adapters listed
MAKE SURE you also selected VIEW HIDDEN DEVICES, up on the VIEW option
the also uninstall those Video Adapters
after that
Install the Catalyst Drivers
then reboot
and you are free to go :t
you'll need to iinstall these 2 drivers

it could just be the video cards fault for not being able to run under Xp. Have you tried updating your chipset for your motherboard. that might solve the problem. it should did for me.

Ok those lines that you are describing they are sign of conflicts, lets check out what is the source of the problem
now we have to check the hardware
so lets take a look at your IRQ Table
to pring out an IRQ table do the following
run msinfo32.exe
go to HARDWARE RESOURCES
select IRQs
right click, Save As Text File
then you can copy and paste that info here
for an example check this out
