I know all cards today use DDR as the RAM type. But a few years ago there were different types. SGRAM, SDRAM, VRAM are the only one s I know of. I m curious what the differences are between the older ram on the video cards.

DDR is faster. Sdram cards are still quite alive. I just bought an ATI radeon 7000 with sdram ($50.00 retail). I don't need anything faster, in fact neither do most of the gamers, but shhhh! Don't tell them that. I mainly wanted dual monitor support for the price of one card. It works just fine on games too. ;)

Quite wrong bubba! We need the speed! Eye candies! And power to meet the game requirement meanwhile playing at the highest Eye candies and speed! :P Take UNREAL 2003 as a example It's hella power hungry to meet a good fps and candy!

I think it's allready a QDRAM out there trough they still calling it DDRRAM... But obviously not the qualtium particle thing as allgamer said :)

Acutally It's both WANT/NEED combined! We need this video card to play at resoultion and quality where we want it to be at ! :P Thats why theres variant type of video cards out there! To matches our needs! :D
