Where is the BIG ONE?

it feels like, even though there are a lot of great games out, none of them are REALLY GREAT!! you know, like when the original UT came out, EVERYONE HAD IT!!!!! when will a milestone in gaming history come out? Doom 3 seems like the best bet, will that game have multiplayer?:x

Been waiting for a new game related to doom for a while.

I think doom3 will be the big game this year.

And it should have multiplayer in it.

If it doesn't, then it may not sell as well.

Lord of the rings is coming to PC soon... it's supposed to be a cracker (still not sure whether I believe the hype though).

Doom3 is probably the one on most peoples wanted list... starcraft 2 further down the track (same engine as warcraft 3).

Doom 3 will not be Multiplayer yet due to hardware. there is a quote by john carmack about that, however I do know that Doom 3 will be single player (got something to do with the atmosphere of the game he is emphasizing)

Wont bother me ya know UT2003 for Multiplayer and DOOM3 for single player. and for more adventure Quake 3 for Serious Fun and UT for a Change and RTCW for another mood in the week

But dont worry there will be a patch for Multiplayer mode when hardware catches up with the software.

i suppose quake 4, eventually. i know that CS has been a big hit, but that was, say, a year and a half ago. we need another BIG hit. its too bad Doom III wont have multiplayer right off, but i suppose its because the boys at id have been working so hard on the singleplayer:rolleyes:

i know you are only talking about FPS games

but the same did happend with Diablo 2, and EverQuest each on its own years

same with StarCraft, and HomeWorld

but to the point, yes you are right
this year there hasn't been any software that was a real big hit

so much fuzz about WarCraft 3, yet after it was release all went quiet

man when Diablo 2 was released that was a major thing for weeks + months to come

then the same thing happend with the BAAL expansion pack.

i wonder what happened to the real good games ::confused:

what the hella re u talking about? Who cares if its old? Its still a great game. BORING!!!??? O plz, unlike UT where u just fly around killing people and mostly getting zapped with no good guns, or getting started right next to someone, you have to use strategy and buy the right weapons. And a good old LAN game with ure friends beats every other multiplayer experience there is!

We throw LANs and have piles of fun, nothing more funny than hearing your friends cursing because you're beating the **** out of them.

My girlfriend and I have been playing CS for some time. I got her into it last december, and I was playing a year before that... almost since 1.0 was released.

CS is coming to a close, but Condition Zero will be out soon, to turn it up another notch or two. We're waiting, ready to "GO! GO! GO!" :D

having played all 3 games fairly extensively, im going to have to say mohaa and bf1942 dont even compare to CS, but hey thats just one guy's opinion. ;)

I like Quake3 or MOHAA/Ghost Recon multiplayer over CS... senseless violence is always better than an objective game.

Not like C&C Renegade, this one is more alike the original StarCraft than C&C Renegade

in C&C R, you are only 1 guy doing the whole thing

in SC Ghost, you control a whole group :p

console controllers are pretty awkward, but after awhile you get used to it. Id sure like to kill some Zerg though@!
