Easiest way to find out how is in our Athlon Overclocking (http://www.sysopt.com/articles/athlonoc/index.html) guide. Good luck :) UniX 09-19-2002, 08:11 PM Bah! i dont understand that can someone tell me from here what to do? Plz! it say i could get up to a 1.6 something with what i have. i would like that!:x NDD 09-19-2002, 08:37 PM You don't understand WHAT ? The guide ?! Then you probably shouldn't mess with your comp at all, leave it running as it is before you cause any unrecoverable damage  UniX 09-19-2002, 08:44 PM Naw i got $$ im not worryed about that i just wanna OC it for the hell of it and i would under stand the guide but i dont know what to read its not very good guide. gibsinep 09-19-2002, 09:10 PM The guide is great, start here http://www.sysopt.com/articles/athlonoc/index2.html Overclocking is dangerous and it isnlt somthing to rush into, However there will be no need to unlock your multipler as you may want to start with the FSB first. (my disclaimer for the day ;) ) Giblet Plus! 09-19-2002, 09:48 PM Like ND said, if you can't handle the sysopt athlon guide, you can't handle OCing. Read up, sonny, or run off to Gateway country. :p UniX 09-19-2002, 09:51 PM Im kewl this is makeing sence now the other didnt Thanks! UniX 09-19-2002, 10:25 PM Anyone under stand that pencil trick better on page 3 on that guide? If so explain it better to me if you can plz. absalom 09-20-2002, 12:23 AM pencil trick here http://www.motherboards.org/articlesd/how-to-guides/41_1.html missiveusa 09-20-2002, 03:29 AM If you're running an Athlon 1.3 GHz "A" chip (266 fsb), you shouldn't need to unlock it. Most 1200-1400 MHz T'birds shipped unlocked. Go into your BIOS to adjust multiplier values. Make sure you have above average cooling if you want to OC. I'd be surprised if you saw 1600 MHz, but a 10-15% OC is within reason. Once you start raising voltage levels to increase stability, you're getting into dangerous territory, so monitor temps closely. gibsinep 09-20-2002, 03:52 PM Yes your t-bird may be unlocked already. I know mine was. :) UniX 09-20-2002, 05:14 PM i didnt see anything about multiplier values but i fund the voltege stuff and i can rase it to 1.85 but like i saidn i didnt see anything about multiplier values? UniX 09-20-2002, 10:40 PM SWEET ***!! i did it im running at a 1.4 now :) and i can go higher but im not going to for now. Thank you all for your help! absalom 09-20-2002, 11:59 PM cool, anytime dude :t UniX 09-21-2002, 12:02 AM One last thing sould i up my CPU Vcore from =o.v to like +o.1 or 2v? fluffycow 09-21-2002, 01:02 AM If its still stable at that overclock then no. Raising the voltage is only to maintian stability at higher overclocks, it does not increase performance. It also increases heat generation and decreases cpu life. gibsinep 09-21-2002, 09:57 AM Good Job, you have now joined the overclockers club. :p UniX 09-21-2002, 04:37 PM Hehe i lerned it in 2 nights :) lol not bad i would say thanx for your help i cant run it now more then 1.4 bc after that is start to restart bye its self rendom so ill stay were i am unless any of you know whats up with that? fluffycow 09-21-2002, 04:48 PM Check your temps first, if they are over 45-50 C they could be limiting your overclocking. The lower the better. Raising the vcore could help with this if its not due to temps, but then you have greater risk of damaging the cpu UniX 09-21-2002, 04:50 PM Yep im running at 49 C gibsinep 09-21-2002, 09:44 PM Thats a good temp but is it Idle or Full? UniX 09-21-2002, 11:23 PM It stays between 49 to 52 c 120 to 122 f fluffycow 09-21-2002, 11:30 PM That sounds okay, u could try giving it .1 volt and see if it clocks higher. If it doesn't you could be hitting you're rams limit or something. gibsinep 09-22-2002, 11:26 AM Yea those temps are fine. :t UniX 09-22-2002, 06:27 PM i have 640 mb of ram =/ gibsinep 09-22-2002, 07:06 PM Not the amount of RAm but the Rams speed. :) fluffycow 09-22-2002, 08:12 PM lol yeah, thats plenty of ram. UniX 09-22-2002, 08:28 PM ok when i up it to say 1.45 it will just restart every now and then for no reson and if i up it to about 1.5 it wont even load my windos it gose to a screen with alot dif. color blox:( fluffycow 09-22-2002, 09:01 PM sounds like the ram is having trouble keeping up, try setting the timings lower. gibsinep 09-22-2002, 09:06 PM Either the RAM or PCI or CPU so many things lol. UniX 09-22-2002, 09:06 PM timing? absalom 09-22-2002, 09:25 PM Ram bios settings explanations here http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=102 SysOpt.com
