The beep is an error code, what one long beep means depends on the brand of BIOS your system has. If you can't boot at all this info should be in your MOBO manual or you can open up the box and read it off the BIOS chip itself. Or you can post you comp make and model and we can look it up for you.

In case you got a bad Manual check this place out for the bEEP
http://www.pcguide.com/ts/x/sys/beep/
basically you seem to have a RAM problem

Most major BIOS makers use one long beep for memory. Try re-seating you chip.Maybe move it to another slot.

I think this means that you need to check the video card or the RAM.

Long beep = memory (or you flashed your bios bad - i did once:()
Make sure your ram is in all the way. If that doesn't work, use the trusty cmos jumper.
What did you do to it before you got the error code, or did you just build it?
