Appreciate some assistance.
Has anyone heard of a phonecall crashing a computer while the PC is offline?
If so, what could cause this?
Any websites addressing this problem?
Thanks for your help.

Yes
it's Software problem that causes that actually.
just see which software you have enabled to receive incomming phone calls

as Strawbs said it's gotta be the Wake-on-ring feature... also try updating your BIOS, maybe it may resolve this. Long time ago i had Wake-on-LAN enabled and it would freeze my machine as well. I have updated the BIOS and now it works as it should...

Wake on RING is only for when your computer is OFF or Sleep
it doesn't work when the computer is already Running
if you are in Standby, Windows+Software handles it, not the BIOS
only whe OFF or Sleep

With a phone connected through or in line with a computer lot's of weird problems are possible. I have discovered that if I use a wireless phone that is on a paralell line with the computer, while the computer is offline but on, and I turn off the computer I loose the connection, but not with a regular wired phone using the pass through. I tried it twice in a row with a buddy in the line just to see if it was just a temporary glitch and it did the same thing. Go Figure.

what you described happened to a batch of badly made modems, with the RealTek chipset, and a few instances with RockWell, and very common with the PCTel ones

when you say crash do you mean an all out crash,, or just disconnected... ??????
ok,, whoops,, sorry I take that back,, will read twice next time... try a new modem,,, or like all gamer said check your software settings that utilize the modem to receive calls,,

Actually, this is not happening in my PC. Someone else is having this problem.
