No. --Rich AllGamer 09-19-2002, 10:54 AM Originally posted by baron888 Is there an adaptor for for slot1 motherboards to accept s478 cpus??????????????????????????? there's simply no way for that to happen installation wise, how is that gonna hold in place, just think about it  Harshu 09-19-2002, 11:06 AM Not possible technically as well as practically. P4 the FSB of 133 (S 478 one) so a chipset which have a 133MHz FSB Support and supports have slot 1 (Like i820). But P4 uses quad arct which take its FSB to 533Mhz so ..... not possible for this chipset or any other chipset which supports Slot1. Ya one could try it. But i guess the computer will not even boot. AllGamer 09-19-2002, 11:56 AM the converter will cost more than a Mobo itself :x it's as simple as that so that's why i doubt any company will invest the time and money to invent something like that yes it can be done, just not feasable for the manufactures company in this world everything is about money  $1500-P4 gamer 09-19-2002, 05:13 PM Hehe, you would still have to change how the chipset works! I mean there is no way a P4 would talk nice to a P3 chipset. Not gonna happen with quad pumped architecture which happens IN the chipset! A adaptor cannot fix that. It works on slot1 to 370 because - THEY are the same chipset. They are the same cpu architecture. The pinout and vcore selection pins are only different. The P4 is not the same in any way at all from the ground up. You cannot change architectures of the chip with a adaptor, well atleast not in this day and age. Maybe if they could put the cpu- and chipsets all on one slot 1 Types cartridge with everything cpu dependent on that card. Oh I better run to the pattent office- Yeah O.K.;) :t baron888 09-19-2002, 07:47 PM I wanted to say thanks to all for the speedy answers. I had hoped to get out of a costly upgrade, my best hope now is to buy a celeron 1400 and just stick it on for the mean while! Just for any one that was interestedmy pc specks are.. Asus p2b, celeron 800(with adaptor card) Does anyone maybe know if the celeron 1400 will work on the same adaptor as the 800 celeron. Money at the moment is a huge problem so the cheaper the upgrade the better. 123eskk 09-20-2002, 03:20 AM celeron 1400 is a tualatin cpu, usually slot 1 mobo is older than s370 and not support the tualatin so that there is no chance for a 1400 to run on your system . $1500-P4 gamer 09-20-2002, 04:08 AM Well, you could keep the ram you have now which is sdr. And get a XP1600+ for like $53 and a mobo for $60. Which is pretty cheap for a total cpu speed increase! Plus with the new mobo you will be able to go to the newest Xp's aswell if you choose right. Some even let you use the sdr you have now and then take it out later and upgrade to ddr! So you can get more than 1400 mhz performance for $130 with shipping. Thats a new mobo and cpu.... somthing to think about.;) baron888 09-20-2002, 11:39 AM thanks for all the input! SysOpt.com
