Ok, under my Device Manager Tab, under the SCSI Controller branch, it says Promise Technology Inc. Ultra66 IDE Controller

Now why is a IDE controller listed under the SCSI controller branch?

last time i checked, IDE and SCSI where two different things.
Or does mine happen to support both?

The on board IDE controller only controls a set number of drives. To get around that an add on card uses a SCSI interface to control IDE drives. At least I think that is how it works. Can anyone else elucidate on this?

That card always shows as a SCSI device in device manager (in w2k and w98/ME, even though it's simply an add on controller card that does use IDE for the added 4 drive capability) - this is normal so forgetta 'bout it :t
