I remember there was a thread a few years back that showcased each look of sysopt from start to what it looked like then. Sysopt was never called Sysopt either in the begining, A fella by the name of OutPatient thought up the name "Sysopt" and so he became the "Ultimate Namming Wizard"

The "contest" was for naming the newly created "off-topic" forum, known for a short time as the "Unnamed Non-Tech Discussion Forum", thereafter titled "Sysopt.community" forum. The entire site was System Optimization with the url of sysopt.com long long before that!


In 1994 Scott founded SysOpt.com and later, ResellerRatings.com. In 1999 after years of profitability in an effort to obtain more resources, Scott transferred the sites to EarthWeb and stayed on board as Editor-in-Chief. And in December 2000, EarthWeb transferred the sites to Internet.com. Scott agreed to stay as Editor-in-Chief until Sept. 2001, when he was a
casualty of budget reductions.

SysOpt.com was hugely successful. Under Scott's ownership from 1994 to 1999, the site was profitable, and maintained a very large and loyal community that continues to this day.
I won't name the source in deference to current admin's wishes, but I think you could find it easily enough!;)

I seem to remember that Scott had a couple URL's for this site. AFAIK sysopt.com was always the main one and the other one just redirected you to sysopt.com
