I like the Lite-On 16x DVDRom drive and the 40x Lite-On burner. They are both at newegg.com in silver color but out of stock on both of them and I was gonna order them last night :(

Has anyone ever seen these silver drives anywhere else? I've done some searching and only find black...

are you going to match them up with a Silver aluminum case?

Yup just got an aluminum case, and although the silver may not match precisely they will match closer than offwhite or black. It was quite amazing that I found them in silver in the brand taht I was looking at. I wouldnt buy drives for just the color but the liteon makes good stuff. Also found a silver floppy drive and the new zip 750 is aluminum colored :)

why don't you just remove the face plates and spray paint them silver or something?

I'm too cheap to go and buy specially colored drives.

Heres reasons why not to spray:

1) The silver color drive is the same price as ugly white.

2) The parts to take off the drive are sometimes hard to remove resulting in breaking, especially the drive lip.

3) Knobs and buttons many times can't be removed or can't be painted.

4) The silver drives arent painted they are color molded into the plastic so no chipping, or color wearing out and there is color on all the face parts.
