Visioneer Scanner 5800 won't scan...Help!

:( I have been fighting with this scanner for three days! Last week it worked fine.When I attempt to scan ,a message appears ,telling me to unlock it. Lock is on bottom. I have gone over this thing woth a fine tooth comb. NO LOCK. I went into my temp files and did as directed. Still no luck. I purchased this thru AOL. AS for returning it ,I don't think I stand much chance of success.Really would appreciate any assistance with it. Thanx :t

you might want to fiddle around with the lock

try to lock it first, then un-lock it
if that still doesn't help

try un-installing, then re-installing the drivers :t

:p Thanks ,but there is no lock on the bottom. I have looked thoroughly.It hums and the scammer only goes up about 1/3 of the way and stops.

check to see on the sides
or back of the scanner

my UMAX scanner have a lock

so if your software is telling you it's locked, then it must be locked somewhere :confused:
