When i first tested my system on win2k and the 4041 drivers after a fresh format, i got a score of 9953. Later, after istalling all my apps and progs my score dropped to ~9200. I was frustrated so i downloaded DirectX8.1 from M$ to fix some problems with the Unreal Tournament 2003 demo. The problems were fixed, but my score dropped yet again to 9028. Gyah!?

Athlon Tbird 1.4Ghz
Soyo Dragon Lite
Geforce4 Ti4200 128mb by Visiontek
256mb PC2700 DDR
80GB WD 7200rpm 8mb
30GB Seagate 5400rpm

What's strange is after my 3dmark2k1se330 score was at 9028 my ut2k3 gaming was much smoother. so i don't know!

OpK Chowdy, don't worry that should have been EXpected.

that's why windows is bad for games.

and that's why i Dual boot
Win98 for games and Win2k for work

cuz exactely that :t

it's a M$ registry bug that causes the slow downs

there's nothing you can do to help it or fix it

simply futile :x

"resistance is futile, your computer will be registered by us, your computer will belong to us"

:D :p

that's specially true now with WinXP

That's not a terrible "M$ registry bug". In most cases, it's the way W2K/XP optimizes itself to run programs. Note that your program might run faster when being run at third or forth time.
Besides, have seen same issues with W98SE, what about it ?

There is very little difference between XP, 2000, and 98 as far as games go. Maybe ~1-4 FPs. Besides, XP has SSE optimizations and you can always crack the activation :D :r
